IMAGINE Kicks Off At Hard Rock Cafe New York!

Posted on November 10, 2009

IMAGINE THERE'S NO HUNGER kicked off at Hard Rock Cafe New York last night with an exhilarating performance by IMAGINE Artist Ambassadors O.A.R., with support from Arno Carstens and Micki Free. Hard Rock's campaign to raise money and awareness for World Hunger Year (WHY), the IMAGINE campaign seeks to help in WHY's worldwide fight against hunger and poverty. As part of the kickoff event, anyone could donate five or more non-perishable items to one of three local food charities and recieve access to the show. Ya know what? People donated over 2.5 tons of food, which will help feed about 40,000 people! How awesome is that? Pretty awesome.

So, then, last night, the kickoff event took over HRC New York, in Times Square, with an amazing show, full of great musicians and great fans alike. O.A.R. stepped up to the plate, delivering on their role as Artist Ambassadors. As they've been involved in their own charity work for years now, we are proud to have O.A.R. on our team for IMAGINE.

As always, O.A.R. (which stands for Of A Revolution, BTW), pulled out all the stops for their set. From their most well-known tunes to their most least-known tunes, the band crafted their sounds from thin air, bringing the room into their world, into their revolution. The highpoint, though, came when the Mount Carmel-Holy Rosary School Choir joined the band for a cover of The Beatles' "Let It Be" and O.A.R.'s own "Heard The World." Exhilerating, amazing, and incredible are all understatements for the IMAGINE THERE'S NO HUNGER kickoff. It was, simply, a night to remember and to help and to know that there are people in this world who care. We want to extend a big thank you to WHY for letting us be a part of their great efforts, to the musicians for kicking things off in such grand fashion, to everyone who donated food for just being cool, and to all the fans who came out for a night of charity and music. You all rock!
