Chris Cornell Rocks Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas!

Posted on October 16, 2009

Chris Cornell, lead singer of hard rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave, brought his amazing voice to the brand new Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas last night for Ambassadors of Rock. Continuing Hard Rock's global tour of top artists and bands, Cornell officially christened the new Cafe, bringing the house down with a set full of his solo work, as well as some of his better known work with his bands. Remember "Black Hole Sun," the incredible Soundgarden song with the equally amazing video? Yeah, he played it. His killer solo single "Scream"? Played it.

Grammy® Award winner Micki Free, one of Hard Rock's favorite performers, opened the show, showing everyone why he's been going strong for nearly three decades.

The show became, by night's end, a vivid memory for the consciousness of the collected lucky few who'd managed to get on the guest list. From beginning to end, Cornell did what he does best. That is, hold the room in a trance, in the palm of his hand, everyone in rapt awe.

Cornell also donated some great memorabilia, which became a permanent addition to Hard Rock’s world-famous memorabilia collection. The entire night benefitted Opportunity Village, a not-for-profit organization in the Las Vegas community that supports people with intellectual disabilities, to enhance their daily lives and the lives of their families through job training, employment opportunities, recreation and advocacy.

We just wanted to thank Chris for opening the new Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas in grand style. As well, thank you to everyone who came out to help us break in the new Cafe and, most importantly, to raise money for Opportunity Village. What a great night! Okay, now it's time for some sleep...
