Hard Rock International Announces Opening of Hard Rock Cafe Santo Domingo
Orlando, Fla., July 24, 2006 – The Dominican Republic is rockin’ now that Hard Rock Cafe Santo Domingo has opened. Nestled in the heart of the city’s colonial zone, Hard Rock Cafe Santo Domingo is on the northern side of Colombus Square and faces one of the focal points of the area, the impressive Catedral Primada de America. With other impressive neighboring buildings in the piazza, including The Borgela's Palace and the Tower of the Old City Hall Building, the cafe promises to be one of the area’s leading entertainment destinations.

”Santo Domingo is the Dominican Republic’s most vibrant city, boasting a diverse culture and rich music history,” said Hamish Dodds, president and CEO, Hard Rock International. “It is a delight and privilege to bring Hard Rock, one of the most-recognized and loved brands, into a country with such a roaring energy and vivacious nightlife.”

The 13,000-square-foot cafe features pieces from Hard Rock’s world-renowned memorabilia collection, including items representing rock legends – such as Mick Jagger’s tweed pants, James Brown’s stage coat and Joe Walsh’s sunburst Gibson guitar, as well as items from contemporary stars – like Bono’s jacket and Tommy Lee’s jumpsuit worn during Motley Crue’s “Shout at the Devil” tour. Tying back to its local roots, the cafe also boasts a jacket worn by Dominican merengue and bachata artist Juan Luis Guerra.

The cafe also includes a Rock Shop, carrying much-loved and collected Hard Rock merchandise, including items such as T-shirts, pins, leather jackets, key chains, watches, shot glasses and more. The Santo Domingo Rock Shop also offers city-specific merchandise, which can only be purchased at this location – an exclusive quality that enhances each item’s appeal. Fans will also be able to acquire Hard Rock’s signature collectible pins, including new, limited-edition Santo Domingo pins, which reflect the spirit of the city and the authenticity of Hard Rock’s merchandise.
