Hard Rock Cafe New York Hosts Charity Event Featuring Performances by Fabolous and Justin Bieber

Orlando, Fla., September 4, 2009 – Fellow running backs Tiki Barber and Brandon Jacobs are “rushing” to Times Square to rock out for a great cause!  On Thursday, September 24th, Tiki will join his New York Giants’ standout successor Brandon to make a special appearance at Hard Rock Cafe New York as the host of the 3rd annual Tiki Rocks the Square for Children’s Miracle Network.  The V.I.P. charity event will benefit Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), an organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals throughout North America.  The evening’s festivities will be highlighted by special performances by Island Def Jam recording artists Fabolous and Justin Bieber.

"It is both an honor and a privilege to again be working with Children's Miracle Network for this special evening at Hard Rock Cafe New York in Times Square," Barber said.  "Assisting those less fortunate than ourselves is a necessity, and I am hoping that our participation again this year will help make the difference in the lives of some very special and very strong-willed people."

The event will be headlined by multi-platinum veteran rapper Fabolous, best known for his chart-topping singles, “Can’t Deny It,” “Young’n (Holla Back),” “Make Me Better” and his newest hit “Throw It In The Bag.”  His latest album, Loso’s Way, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 has been burning up the charts and radio airwaves since its release on June 30, 2009.

An old soul is the last thing you would expect to find inside emerging artist Justin Bieber. After posting dozens of homemade videos on YouTube in 2007, the multi-talented Bieber caught the eye of record labels and by October of 2008, officially signed to Island Records. His debut album, My World, is an intimate look into the mind of a budding young renaissance man. With production from star hit men like The Dream and Tricky Stewart who produced "Umbrella" for Rihanna and Beyonce's smash, "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)," Justin has everything he needs to achieve pop supremacy, beginning with his first single, "One Time.”  A virtually untapped well of natural artistic talent, Justin Bieber is primed to be a solid force in music for many years to come.

About Tiki Barber
As running back for the New York Giants, Atiim Kiambu “Tiki” Barber became the Giants all-time rushing leader. He retired from the NFL at the conclusion of the 2006 season. In February 2007, Tiki announced his plans to join NBC’s “Today” as a correspondent and “Football Night in America” as an analyst. He graduated from the University of Virginia, and has co-authored five illustrated books for children along with identical twin brother Ronde. Tiki and his wife Ginny have two sons.

Nine years ago, Tiki Barber volunteered to be part of a televised fundraising effort for children’s hospitals through Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), and met Jade Alston, a lively girl with a diagnosis of Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bone Disease), a condition that makes bones highly susceptible to fracture. This life-long syndrome means that Jade has to use a wheelchair for her everyday activities, but it has never slowed her down.  With the help of extensive treatment and therapy from Children’s Specialized Hospital, a Mountainside, New Jersey-based pediatric rehabilitation center affiliated with the Robert Wood Johnson Health System and CMN, Jade has strengthened her bones enough to be able to ride in a car, go to Giants games and even attend her prom (with an assist from Mercedes-Benz Manhattan, who sent her there in a Maybach).  Jade is enrolled at college in Baltimore, MD and is on the verge of her 22nd birthday.  Jade’s determination inspired Tiki at that fundraiser in 2000 and their chance meeting has made a difference, not only in Tiki’s life, but also in the lives of thousands of children aided by his efforts for CMN.

About Brandon Jacobs
Current starting running back for the New York Giants, Jacobs was drafted in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft from the college Southern Illinois.  With the retirement of fellow teammate Tiki Barber, Jacobs took over the starting running back spot for the Giants in the 2007 season.  Since his professional football tenure began, Jacobs has been recognized as NFC Offensive Player of the Month during October 2007and amassed an impressive 2,620 yards career rushing yards, the 10th-highest total in Giants history.  Brandon and his wife Kim have one son together, Brayden Kenneth.

Cafe to Unveil Innovative Memorabilia Interactive Technology

Orlando, Fla., September 3, 2009 – Hard Rock International is proud to announce the opening of the new Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas on September 5, 2009. Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas is located at 3771 Las Vegas Boulevard South, anchoring the Showcase Mall development at the heart of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip.

Sure to contend as one of the city’s premier dining and entertainment destinations, the 42,000-square foot flagship cafe features a 950-seat restaurant, live concert venue and the world’s largest Rock Shop complete with Hard Rock’s limited-edition merchandise. This is Hard Rock’s second cafe location in the Las Vegas market. The original Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas at Hard Rock Hotel, located at 4475 Paradise Rd., remains open and will continue to provide Rock Star service for guests.

Hard Rock welcomes back former staff members and new local talent to the team at the new location on Las Vegas Blvd. Leading the team will be General Manager Greg Thomas, who has been successfully helming the original Las Vegas cafe for a number of years.     The largest item of the interactive suite is Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas’ one-of-a-kind Rock Wall™. Hard Rock partnered with Technomedia Solutions and Obscura Digital on this venture to create an 18-foot wide by 4-foot tall interactive touch wall. This technology will also highlight Hard Rock’s unparalleled memorabilia collection on a grand scale. A guest can access and expand a single image or video to be as large as the wall itself; or up to six guests can explore their own collections in dynamic "zones" simultaneously. Crafted from a single sheet of Stewart film glass, this interactive touch screen is custom made for this Hard Rock venue. The technology behind the installation are almost as impressive as the incredible graphics of the multi-touch interface and user experience that will surely be a focal part of the cafe’s unique allure.

  • Microsoft Surface:
    The Nashville cafe will utilize Microsoft Surface, providing a 360-degree, multi-user interface that uses cameras to sense objects, touch and hand gestures on the 30-inch display. Hard Rock collaborated with Duncan/Channon and Vertigo to create several custom applications for use on the Microsoft Surface platform.  A key feature is the worldwide memorabilia application that allows the guest to locate Hard Rock properties from around the world, explore images of both the exterior and interior of the building, then deep-zoom into the iconic memorabilia items housed within those walls. Deep zoom was previously showcased via Hard Rock’s Memorabilia 2.0 online portal. This application also grants users the ability to pivot from one collection to another, using categories such as artist, year, genre, and type.  Guests can also expect many other custom applications via Microsoft Surface designed to showcase Hard Rock's unique content.

  • Booth Interactive:
    Hard Rock, Duncan/Channon and Vertigo created a custom, touch-based interface for 38 of the cafe’s booths, where guests can explore memorabilia, peruse merchandise and vote on what video plays next in the cafe. From “Deep Zoom” functionality to background information on the pieces themselves, the technology grants access to a catalogue of more than 1,000 unique memorabilia items.  Guests can also plug in to the in-house music video system to cast their vote on the next song, and explore Hard Rock memorabilia related to those artists. Marquee Rock Shop merchandise items will also be accessible for browsing as part of this interface.

Event to Feature Live Performance by Marc Broussard ** MEDIA ACCESS ONLY**
Orlando, Fla., September 3, 2009 – Come celebrate 10 years of Hard Rockin’ in Gatlinburg! On Wednesday, September 23, 2009, Hard Rock Cafe Gatlinburg celebrates 10 years of service to the Gatlinburg community with a live performance by singer/songwriter Marc Broussard. During the celebration, Broussard will donate memorabilia, which will become a permanent addition to Hard Rock’s world-famous memorabilia collection. That evening, Hard Rock International will also honor Olwen Claiborne, Steve Wiggins, John Antikainen and Bobby Steel, who have been staff members at the cafe since its opening, by presenting each of them with a Rolex watch.

Remaining true to the brand’s “Love All, Serve All” motto, proceeds from the event will benefit Gatlinburg’s Friends of the Smokies, an organization that assists the National Park Service in its mission to preserve and protect the Great Smoky Mountains National Park by raising funds and public awareness, and providing volunteers for needed projects.

New Look ~ New Vibe ~ New Memorabilia

Orlando, Fla., September 3, 2009 – Hard Rock International is excited to announce that Hard Rock Cafe Nashville will soon receive a major renovation, complete with a new live music space, additional dining areas and upscale design features.  Located at the corner of Broadway and Second Avenue, Hard Rock is planning a multi-million dollar renovation and memorabilia redecoration, including a new open-air terrace seating area and turning its second floor into a music venue for live shows, parties or special events.  

In the latest example of Hard Rock’s concept-driven design evolution, the Nashville cafe will be remodeled to preserve the heritage of the existing location while integrating technology and other elements to create a new look and vibe that will rock downtown.  The ground floor of the restaurant will be revamped to feature a sleek, iconic bar as the focal point, complemented by exposed brick accents, giving the space a contemporary feel that articulates the energy of the Hard Rock brand.  In contrast to the ground floor, the second level provides a raw, open space complete with large glass overhead doors; these doors can be opened to allow patrons the luxury of spilling out onto the rooftop deck to enjoy the second floor’s live music scene on select evenings.  The venue’s new second floor will also be utilized for buyouts and events, as well as a regular live music schedule.

Dozens of new items commemorating the history of rock will be on display – from Randy Travis’ guitar to Hank Williams, Jr.’s suit, to Michael Jackson’s shoes.  The collection will also include items from Tennessee natives, including a guitar owned by 2009 Ambassador of Rock Kenny Chesney, a microphone courtesy of Hard Rock 2008 Artist of the Year Paramore’s Hayley Williams, as well as an axe used in the band’s ‘"Crushcruchcrush" video.

Nashville is an extraordinary capital city with an incredibly rich music heritage,” said Hamish Dodds, president and CEO, Hard Rock International. “We have enjoyed great success in ‘Music City’ since the cafe’s opening in 1994, and we are eager to re-launch the Nashville cafe as a premier entertainment destination.

Orlando, Fl., August 27, 2009 – Hard Rock International is proud to announce that the Grammy® Award-winning Black Eyed Peas will headline six concerts in Japan as part of Hard Rock International’s 2009 Ambassadors of Rock Tour, a global concert series featuring top artists and bands. Orlando, Fla., July 21, 2009 – Hard Rock is “doubling down” in Las Vegas with the anticipated opening of its second Hard Rock Cafe location in “Sin City”, and the brand has just announced that it is looking for local talent! Beginning Tuesday, July 28th through Wednesday, August 5th, Hard Rock will host the search for more than 500 of the area’s best and brightest rock stars-in-training to help launch its newest home at the Showcase Mall development on the world famous Las Vegas Strip. The job fair will take place at the Las Vegas Hilton on Paradise Road.

Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas will be located at 3771 Las Vegas Boulevard South, anchoring the Southern end of the heart of “The Strip” beside the MGM Grand Hotel. The three-story Las Vegas cafe will have more than more than 42,000-square feet of space, including a 950-seat restaurant, a state-of-the-art live concert venue, rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia from Hard Rock’s iconic collection and the largest Rock Shop in the world.

As guests approach the new Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas, the first sight to grab their attention will be a larger-than-life guitar on the exterior of the building, reaching more than three stories tall.     This opening marks Hard Rock’s return to the Dallas market. The original Hard Rock Cafe Dallas, located at 2601 McKinney Avenue and known for its unique church design and historic significance, was closed after 21 years in order for the brand to actively explore more strategic locations in the market. Hard Rock welcomes back former staff members and new local talent to the team at the new location on North Houston Street. Leading the team will be former GM Todd Stoerkel, who has been successfully helming the Philadelphia cafe since the previous Dallas location closed.
