Ya know how that big ball drops toward the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve in Times Square every year? The big NYE ball in the Big Apple? Well, three Hard Rock Cafes are doing something similar, only in our own particular rockin' idiom. That's right, Hard Rock Cafe Memphis, Hard Rock Cafe Nashville, and Hard Rock Cafe Niagara Falls are all dropping big ol' guitars. There'll also be plenty of great music and libations at each location. Click the logos below to find out more information. We'll see you on New Year's Eve, when we'll simultaneously drop those hugemongous guitars and rock your socks off. Believe it.
Presently, Hard Rock Cafe Nashville is closed as a result of the recent flooding. The phone system is down as well, so please check the the Hard Rock Cafe Nashville page on Facebook or their Twitter page for up-to-date announcements regarding their reopening. Our thoughts go out to the entire Nashville community as recovery efforts continue. We are in the planning stages of a relief benefit in support of those affected by the flooding- we will continue to Rock Music City!
What, exactly, was Ben Harper celebrating at Hard Rock Cafe Nashville, you ask? His birthday? Nope. His awesome guitar skills? He's got 'em, but nope. Guess again. His upcoming set at Hard Rock Calling in London's Hyde Park? It's gonna rock, but nope. If you guessed that he was raising his voice in song and celebrating the life and times of one Mr. Roy Orbison, then you'd be correct. If you said he was celebrating the 74th birthday of said Mr. Orbison, as well as helping raise money for Musicians On Call, then you'd be even more right.
Barbara Orbison was joined by sons Roy, Alex and Wesley along with family friend Ben Harper, as they prepared to cut cake and celebrate Roy Orbison's 74th Birthday. As a father of four may be prone to do on such occasions, Ben began cutting the cake and wound up cutting and serving it to all the guests! What a guy. The event raised money for Musicians On Call and will create a dedicated Musicians On Call Roy Orbison program at Bordeaux Long Term Care Facility.
The party included soulful performances by guitar player Harold Bradley and singer Mallary Hope; Sweethearts of the Rodeo, Eric Passlay, Rodney Crowell and Chris Rodriguez, Edens Edge, Jeffrey Steele and wrapped with surprise guest Ben Harper singing with Chris Rodriguez on guitar. It was a heartfelt celebration and a wonderful way to honor Roy and the legacy of incredible songs he created.
For high school and college students, what's better than spring break? How 'bout spring break with rockers Saving Abel playing a blistering live set? Yeah, that'd be awesome. Well, just last night, Saving Abel did, indeed, melt the brains of about 2000 spring breakers at Hard Rock Cafe Myrtle Beach, helping to raise money for a great charity, making Tuesday night the night for fun and good times in Myrtle Beach. Whoulda thunk it?
Saving Abel is currently in the midst of a mini-tour in support of Hard Rock's month-long March On Stage concert series, which raises money for Musicians On Call, a great charity that supports music therapy at hospitals across the country. It's the healing power of music!
Saving Abel is playing (click the links to get tickets right now) Hard Rock Cafe Memphis on March 28, Hard Rock Cafe Nashville on March 29th (supporting Aaron Lewis of Staind!), Hard Rock Cafe St. Louis on April 6, Hard Rock Cafe Chicago on April 8, and Hard Rock Cafe Houston on April 18. Wow! To hold you over, here's a couple pics from their show at Hard Rock Cafe Myrtle Beach last night.
We just wanted to thank the guys in Saving Abel for supporting Hard Rock's March On Stage program. It means a lot to us that you are helping in such a big way. A big shout out to the staff and management at Hard Rock Cafe Myrtle Beach, as well, for giving the spring breakers one helluva party on a Tuesday night. You all rock!
This Friday, Jan. 29, Hard Rock Cafe Nashville binges on one of the hardest rocking bands around: 7dayBinge. 7dayBinge includes Todd Harrell of 3 Doors Down on bass, Jon Nicholson of the Muzik Mafia on guitar and vocals, Kenny Olson of Kid Rock’s band on lead guitar, and Shannon Boone on drums. This party celebrates the release of their eponymous debut CD. As if you needed more of an incentive to go, opening for 7dayBinge and joining them for the fun will be The Campaign 1984 and BeItTheMeans.
