Hard Rock Cafe New York recently had the extreme honor of hosting the kick-off event for the Light Of Day Foundation's epic series of concerts to raise money for Parkinson's research and support of families dealing with this disease. Even better than hosting the event was the fact that the headliner was Gary U.S. Bonds, legendary R&B singer. Bonds first rose to prominence in the early 1960s, when his song, “Quarter to Three,” released in June 1961, reached Number 1 on the Billboard chart. Bonds’ other Top 10 hits at the time included “New Orleans,” “School is Out,” and “Dear Lady Twist.” He headlined a 1963 European tour, which also included The Beatles. Supporting him earlier in the night were Willie Nile, The Liza Colby Sound, and Joe D'Urso & The Stone Caravan, all putting their heart and soul into the night.
