06.14: Hard Rock Cafe officially opened its doors in London on this day in 1971. Happy birthday to us!

06.14: Not only does Roxanne not have to put on the red light, but she’d be well advised not to. On this day in 2003, the Queen of England made Sting a Commander of the British Empire. What hath thou wrought, Queen Elizabeth II? Does this mean that Sting can now command the British Navy or that he can have people summarily executed? Or lead the troops in yoga? The latter would be much preferred to either of the other two.

Happy birthday to us! Hard Rock officially turns 40 on June 14, 2011, and we're celebrating by giving stuff away.

Okay, so we have this little event in London coming up in a couple weeks. It's called Hard Rock Calling and, yes, it is going to be awesome. If you don't have tickets yet or are on the fence about going or don't want to shell out cash for them, we've got a way for you to possibly get your hands on some tickets.

Orlando, Fla., June 14, 2011 – Police, firefighters and emergency medical technicians rush to Hard Rock Cafe! On Tuesday, June 14, 2011, Hard Rock will celebrate 40 years since its founding with the Burger Badge Bash, honoring community heroes with a world-famous Hard Rock Legendary Burger for just a badge and “71” (71 cents, 71 pence, 71 kroner or 71 euro cents, etc.). In 1971, two music-loving Americans founded the first Hard Rock Cafe in an old Rolls Royce showroom in London, and an icon was born. Four decades later, Hard Rock celebrates the 40th Anniversary of Founders’ Day by paying homage to the brand’s core mantra “Love all – Serve All.” Hard Rock’s Burger Badge Bash is offered to community servants, including police, firefighters and emergency medical technicians, in recognition of their dedication and service to the community.*

Each year Hard Rock looks forward to celebrating Founders’ Day, honoring and ‘serving’ those who serve and protect us everyday,” said John Galloway, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Hard Rock International. “This year’s 40th Anniversary Founders’ Day is a special milestone for us, and we look forward to celebrating with local heroes and all Hard Rock fans across the globe.
