Orlando, Fla., January 20, 2005 - To coincide with the beginning of the San Sebastian Festival, Hard Rock Cafe announced today the reopening of its San Juan Cafe at 11 a.m. at its original location - 253 Recinto Street in Old San Juan. Located in a beautiful two-story building built 300 years ago, the Hard Rock Cafe San Juan opened in 1993 and closed in 2003 due to a fire.
The fully remodeled Hard Rock Cafe San Juan now seats 230 guests and offers great American food in a rock 'n' roll atmosphere. It features a new 500 sq. foot retail store selling Hard Rock's authentic merchandise including T-shirts and pins, a new semiprivate dining room that seats 40 people overlooking the main room and Hard Rock's world-famous memorabilia collection. Memorabilia highlighting Puerto Rico's rich musical past is featured throughout the cafe. A shirt worn by Ricky Martin during the 1991 Grammy Awards and a sequined pantsuit worn by Lourdes Roubles during a 1993 concert at the Performing Arts Center in San Juan are among the rare items on display. In addition, pieces representing some of rock's most influential artists like Bob Dylan and Aerosmith are also showcased.
"San Juan is one of the most visited cities in the Caribbean,"
said Hamish Dodds, president and CEO of Hard Rock International.
"The city has an excellent musical history and ambiance and we are thrilled to reopen our Cafe where we will offer an entertainment experience for San Juan's guests and local community."
To further celebrate today's reopening of Hard Rock Cafe San Juan, the Cafe is hosting a grand reopening celebration with live musical performances by Terraplen, Ignacio Pena and other native musicians.
In addition to its grand reopening celebration, the San Juan Cafe features a stage that will showcase concerts from local and nationally known artists. The Cafe also accommodates corporate events, private parties and other rental opportunities.
Hard Rock Cafe International, one of the most globally-recognized music, entertainment and dining brands has a network of 123 signature Hard Rock Cafes in 41 countries and owns the world's greatest collection of music memorabilia. Known for its collectible and fashion merchandise, live concerts, Hard Rock Live performance venues, hardrock.com and Hard Rock Hotels and Casinos, Hard Rock Cafe International, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of London-based The Rank Group Plc (NASDAQ: RANKY).
